£61 Million – Big Ben Renovations More Than Double!

UK Construction Week – October 10th-12th

This year’s UK Construction Week takes place between October 10th and 12th, and it’s the perfect opportunity for those in the industry to discover all sorts of innovative products and insights on all the biggest issues facing the sector today.

More than 650 exhibitors will come together at the Birmingham NEC for the free-to-attend event, with nine shows being put on this year including Timber Expo, the Build Show, Plant & Machinery Live, Energy 2017 and the Surface & Materials Show among others.

This year will also see the first public showing of Tufeco Modular Homes, focusing on the large-scale production of eco development builds. A partnership between Tufeco, SAM Architects, the Carbon Free Group and Architects Grimshaw has seen the delivery of digitally printed flat-pack passive homes at a competitive price point so it could certainly be worth checking out.

Another major theme at this year’s event is Offsite Construction, focusing on all the latest technologies that enable those in the industry to build quicker and more efficiently, while not compromising on quality.

All sorts of different seminars are being put on over the course of the three days so there’s plenty of opportunity to find out what’s next for the industry from those in the know. Topics include making buildings safe, new developments, the growth masterplan for Birmingham, transforming Transport for London assets, the transformation programme for Manchester Airport, the dynamics of tall timber buildings and lots more.

There are also building safety workshops being put on in light of the recent tragedy at Grenfell Tower in London. Key people in the built environment can book on a series of free factual workshops to help tackle safety, fire prevention and quality, with the aim in mind being to separate fact from sensationalism and to make sure that industry is up to date with the latest information, legislation and views.

There’s also lots of entertainment on offer for delegates opting to go to this particular trade show. For example, there’s the first-ever UK Construction Week Dodgeball Tournament with an inflatable arena due to be set up. Teams of six players are now being called on to take part, with daily trophies up for grabs… and don’t worry if you’ve never played before. Apparently, 52 per cent of teams in each tournament have never tried this particular sport before!

And there’s also a beer festival with more than 15 beers to try out and a selection of hot food, live music and lots of entertainment on offer as well. For those looking to network, there’s also a casino night being put on at the Genting International Casino – and every visitor can enjoy 50 per cent off their first drink and a free bet as well.

It’s easy to register for a free ticket (you can do this via the website or through one of your social media channels like Facebook, LinkedIn and twitter), so there’s no excuse not to go.
