Large Student Accommodation Development Set For Lincoln

Large Student Accommodation Development Set For Lincoln

Lincoln High Street will look rather different by the end of 2019 after a deal was reached to construct a large student accommodation development, along with new retail and leisure facilities.

LincolnshireLive reported on the scheme, where construction has already begun on the main block, which will be three to nine-storeys high.

This will provide 250 bedrooms for the city’s students, as well as a gym, restaurants and shops. In addition, a further six-storey block will also be constructed to provide an additional 51 rooms. According to the plans, the two blocks will be linked via a footbridge.

The development, which is being led by developer Blocwork LLP, is worth over £25 million, making it a significant investment in Lincoln.

Corporate law firm Shulmans LLP has been working on completing the legal elements for the project. Associate in the firm’s commercial property unit Kate Johnson told the news provider that it was “fantastic” to see such investment in the city.

“The contemporary, design-led scheme will meet the increasing demand for affordable, sociable and fully-furnished student accommodation. It will greatly enhance the current accommodation facilities at the University of Lincoln,” she stated.

With the new student accommodation set to be ready for students arriving at the beginning of the 2019 academic year, there will no doubt be a flurry of activity on the site in the coming weeks and months, with scaffolders in Lincoln joining other construction workers on the site.

This isn’t the only building project going on in the city at present though. Lincolnite reported las month that the main structure of the new Travelodge hotel in the city centre had been completed. This was the first major milestone in this construction scheme, which is due to be completed in November.
