King William House, Hull

Burflex Helps Transform A 1970s Office Block Into Luxury Flats

Our team here at Hull scaffolding contractors Burflex has been involved on a £6 million redevelopment of King William House, a 1970s office building in the heart of Hull city centre, which was recently transformed into new apartments and an arcade of retail units.

We worked alongside construction company The Broadley Group and a property syndicate, based in York, on the redevelopment, with the overall scheme designed by Leeds-based brewster Bye Architects.

The refurbishment work saw the building reclad, with large areas of glass included to create stunning reflections of the Grade I-listed Hull Minster, a beautiful building that sits directly opposite and which dates back to the 1300s.

King William House itself can be found on the corner of Market Place and Liberty Lane in the Old Town conservation area of Hull. Work on the building is set to be completed this summer, with 30 one and two-bedroom apartments in the offing.

There will also be an arcade of nine retail units on the ground floor, fronting onto Market Place. The facade along Liberty Lane is also going to be opened up, with new entrances installed to help encourage more pedestrian footfall.
