South Kirkby Business Park Set To Expand

A business park in South Yorkshire is set to expand after it was announced that four industrial units are going to be built there.

Earlier this week, planning permission was granted for the additional buildings at South Kirkby Business Park in Wakefield.

Developer Marshall CDP is behind the project to build the units ranging from 10,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet, together with Carter Towler and AWS.

Carter Towler’s industry agency surveyor Hazel Cooper said there is already a lot of interest in the units from businesses looking for somewhere to both purchase and rent.

“The quality of the units, the location and the Enterprise Zone financial incentives together make a very compelling package for manufacturers, warehousing and logistics companies looking for space,” Ms Cooper stated.

Indeed, the South Kirkby Enterprise Zone is situated between Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley and Doncaster. It is also close to the A628, which links with the A1 and M1, making it a prime location for businesses needing a base in the north.

Work will begin on the site in October, starting with erecting structural steel frames. It is hoped they will be complete and ready to be occupied by March next year.

There are ten Enterprise Zones across West Yorkshire aimed at boosting manufacturing and commercial activities in the area. The other sites include the 142-hectare Aire Valley Leeds enterprise zone, Parry Lane in Bradford, Clifton Business Park in Calderdale and Moor Park Mirfield in Kirklees.
