Work Starts On New NHS Medical Centre In Hull

Work has begun on a multi-million NHS medical facility in Anlaby, near Hull, the Business Live website reports. It is part of a development of a 25-acre site in Lowfield Road, which has already seen the construction of 243 new homes, and a clinic which is a facility of the Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital.

The project is by Lovel Developments, and the contract has been awarded to Hull-based business Hobson & Porter. The new NHS medical centre is much needed to serve the growing communities in the villages to the west of Hull, and plans have been in the pipeline for 15 years. However, until now, no suitable site was identified.

Philip Lovel, MD of Lovel Developments, said: “The new centre is designed to meet the need of the Harthill Primary Care Network for a hub which will enable them to bring in specialist services and better access, providing something that isn’t available elsewhere.”

The project has an anticipated finish date of January 2022. 55 extra homes are also planned for the site. The Harthill Primary Care Network is part of the NHS and covers the areas of Anlaby, Cottingham, Hessle, North Ferriby, Swanland, and Willerby.

The facility will comprise of six consulting rooms on the ground floor, along with a health education area, with a further nine consulting rooms on the first floor for GPs and other clinicians, and meetings rooms and space for support staff. The administration team and practice manager will occupy the second floor.

Joe Booth, the business director at Hobson & Porter, remarked that the firm was proud to work on a project which enhanced the health facilities of the area. He also commented on the resilience of the construction industry over the past 12 months, of which evidence could be seen in the many projects underway around the Hull and Humberside area.
