Application Submitted For 25 New Homes In Stokesley

North Yorkshire could be home to a new housing development if plans are given the go-ahead, after an application was put forward for a derelict farm building to be replaced by 25 houses.

Brierley Homes Ltd submitted the proposal for two, three and four-bedroomed homes, which includes seven affordable properties, on land off Westlands Road.

County councillor Derek Bastiman, executive member of growth and economic development, stated: “As a council, we took the opportunity to help the local economy and encourage growth by entering the housing market with Brierley Homes. This has proved most effective by filling a void. It is great to see another fine development that should help to address local housing needs.”

If it goes ahead, the site, which will be known as Levens Pastures, would provide high-quality homes to locals.

According to North Yorkshire Council, the designs meet national space standards, provide open space and include attractive landscaped gardens, creating a “positive addition to the communities”.

Matt O’Neill, director of Brierley Homes, which is part of the Brierley Group, noted that working with the community helps set the developer apart from others. This includes collaborating with local groups, schools and other organisations, offering donations, materials and assistance.

This has been recently shown when pupils from Marton cum Grafton Primary School in Boroughbridge, York,

got to visit one of Brierley Homes’ building sites.

The 15 year-six students explored Yew Tree Farm, learning the importance of using accurate mathematics when constructing homes and other buildings. They even got to wear hard hats for their on-site lesson, with the developer hoping to inspire the next generation of engineers, surveyors and planners.
