£30m New Housing Development For Hull

A new £30m housing development is set to bring over 150 new homes to Hull. Insider Media reports that Beal Homes are due to start work on the King’s Fold development this summer, with the first homes ready by mid-2024. The mews style houses will be built on a 10 acre site in the Kingswood Parks area.

Jamie Barrington, sales operations manager at East Yorkshire-based Beal Homes, said: "We're delighted to announce our return to Kingswood with our latest development, King's Fold. The consistently strong demand for all of our previous developments in the area has shown just how popular Kingswood Parks is and we expect King's Fold to be no different.

He added: "This development has been designed to form a village-style community within the wider Kingswood neighbourhood."

Meanwhile, a £4.8m investment has been completed at the Port of Hull by Associated British Ports (ABP) Humber. The extension of the Humber Container Terminal has added 190,000 sq ft of heavy duty paving to create additional storage space. A new gatehouse was also added to improve the facilities of the operations team.

Simon Bird, director Humber, said: "ABP Humber has made substantial investments in the Humber Container Terminal at the Ports of Hull and Immingham. Having completed a £50m investment at the start of 2021, the Humber's provision to serve the container sector goes from strength to strength with these ongoing investments.

"The extra space and equipment is further evidence of the growing value the terminals have in the economic life of the North of England and the Midlands."

ABP have also rolled out a statutory consultation on the proposed Immingham Green Energy Terminal (IGET), Ship Technology reports. The proposed terminal would be built on the east side of the Port of Immingham and the south bank of the Humber Estuary.

A green hydrogen production facility would be constructed as part of the scheme, as well as a new jetty with two berths, plus supporting infrastructure.

ABP said in a statement: “These proposals would create a brand-new hydrogen production facility in the heart of the Humber’s energy estuary. IGET would contribute to the Humber 2030 Vision, where the Humber Energy Board is driving forward change in our local industries, decarbonising the Humber and delivering clean energy for the future.”

The plans are part of the wider Humber 2030 Vision, which aims to decarbonise the Humberside industrial cluster and help it to achieve net zero emissions. The Humber cluster has been identified as a key decarbonisation opportunity by the Chamber of British Commerce (CBI) and the World Economic Forum.

Tony Danker, CBI Director General said: "There are plenty of reasons why the CBI is partnering with firms in the Humber cluster. It’s a critical piece of the jigsaw in decarbonising the UK: with almost half of all industrial emissions coming from the Humber and Teesside, the collaboration with the broader East Coast Cluster will be pivotal.”

It is hoped that the Humber 2030 project will contribute to the economic development and levelling up of the region.
